Introductions Post

I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Alexcat, female, a little past middle age, an MCU and Tolkien fan though I write in many fandoms. I live in a rural area in a red state so not a lot of fannish folk near me. I have one hubby and not really any other family. Fandom is home tio me and I like it to be a safe place fir all.

I write and I crochet blankets and shawls and such. I'm hoping to spend more time here at DW since I've given up toxic social media sites like Facebook. Never was on Twitter or Instagram much anyway. I am at Tumblr(alexcat45) and Discord(alex_writes).

Please feel free to ask me any questions AND share with us as much (or as little) as you wish in introduction to you.

Call me Asp, formerly known as Merfilly. Perpetually online since the mid 90s, didn't actually seek online fandom outside of forums and UseNet until the mid 00s. Hobby writer turned fanficcer, no craft ability, pretty cynical and not all that great at much of anything but my job which I despise.

In a blue dot in a deep red state, worrying over my children for myriad reasons under the current regime, and pretty nihilistic about everything at this point, but that just means I should keep fiddling?

I read a post on Tumblr about the worst of the AIDS epidemic. The person said, and I'm paraphrasing, We buried our dead in the mornings, protested in the afternoons, and at night, we danced! It was the joy of the dancing that sustained us. So yes, we fiddle on and try to find some joy and hope among the ashes. It's just really hard somedays!
