Writers write violence, rape, child abuse out of a need for catharsis many times. Or maybe they are angry and rather than take it out on a real person, they write something violent. Let it be. We write for our own reasons and we don’t owe any explanations of those to anyone.
Exactly my feelings. The way I put it is, "I may not like everything you write, but I will argue to my dying breath for your right to write it."
I once wrote a fic where a kitten got killed by demons because I was grieving my cat and was angry at the way the vet handled her. Case in point.
